Lee In DragonConLand
I'm in the middle of WorldCon Recovery -- resting up, slinging laundry, sending out proposals and such, and trying to get a trip report written and posted. But even with all that, I'm looking ahead to my next convention, DragonCon.

This will be my first time for this particular convention, and I'm grateful that I have experience with A-Kon to prepare me. I'm also very pleased with the schedule I've been sent.

Friday:

1pm: "I Was A Child Horror Star!"

Description: Join Linda Blair (The Exorcist) and Carrie Henn (Aliens) for their take on what it was like to star in a horror film as a youngster. I've been asked to serve as moderator/interviewer for this one.

10pm: "She Did What?!"

Description: Sex in science fiction. Is it necessary? Does too much of it cross the line from sf/fantasy into...other things?

Saturday:

4pm: Reading

Sunday:

11:30am: AutoGraphing

5:30pm: "Writing for Small Presses and Magazines"

Description: So the big New York publishers don't think your novel or story fits. What do you do with it now? Is there a niche for your work?

Looks good to me.

I've only been to DragonCon once and it was a total zoo. Anne McCaffrey seems to get around OK in a scooter, though, so you might be all right since you don't have any back-to-back panels to do.

The timing of the panels should definitely help. And I know a number of the folks running programming (and other departments), as well as a bunch of the attendees. I think I'll be fine.

Thanks for the info!

Linda Blair just gave a fantastic interview on NPR a few months ago. And prior to that I saw her on an episode of Supernatural. She looks fabulous.

I'll try to get a look/listen at those. Thanks!

I'm also thinking I should watch both movies before the panel. It's been ages since I've seen either one.

She also did a spoof of the Exorcist with Leslie Nielson. I think it was called Reposessed. That actually came up in the interview on NPR, otherwise I wouldn't have remembered it.

I was scheduled for the small press & mags panel, as well, but that conflicted with the steampunk panel. As there were less folks available to discuss steampunk, I pulled myself off the small press panel. Now I see you're on it. Bah. Hope it goes well. I'm busily reading up on s-punk stuff so I can make some semi intelligent comments.

It would have been a blast to share a panel with you, but I certainly can see why your being on the steampunk panel is a good fit. We'll just have to find other ways to get into mutual mischief.
